PIT vs OTT

Desperate times for Senators

The Ottawa Senators will make one last desperate push to stay alive tonight at Scotiabank Place.

Senators GM/coach Bryan Murray will reunite the line of Jason Spezza, Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson in
an attempt to get some offence going with the club on the brink of elimination against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Down 3-0 in the first round playoff series, the Senators are hopeful the trio can find a way to help force a Game 5 Saturday in Pittsburgh to keep the club’s slim hopes alive.

"The only way we’re going to get out of this hole is by us three playing well together," said Spezza. "We should be able to help the club get some offence, we’ve got to make sure we’re on the plus side.

"It’s a big pressure game and we know the chips are down, but we enjoy playing together."

Alfredsson said the club would like to get some early momentum and has to stay calm if the Penguins score first.

"It’s like that in any sport,” said Alfredsson, who returned from a knee injury in the club’s 4-1 loss to the Penguins in Game 3 Monday. “If you let your frustration show too much that’s not the right thing to do. You’ve got to stay with it no matter what.

"I felt pretty good. I like play with Jason and Dany. I’m excited and I’m looking forward to it."

Comments

All the playoffs are Biased this year. I am watching the Pittsburgh-Ottawa game. And the Senators just had a goal disallowed. OK mabe there was a kicking motion, but the puck went off the Pittsburgh Players stick. So actually Pittsburgh put the puck in their own net. Ok if it is disallowed but where is the tripping penalty there or even a penalty shot. Another Ref game.Ruutu's goal should not have counted. The Senator was hooked just as much as the pittsburgh player was in the preeeding penalty. Again another referee bumble, I think the refs should all go for eye exams because as far as I can see in this series as long as your Named Pittsburgh you can get away with murder. I guess it is true the NHL wants their so called superstars to keep going in the playoffs. But at what price, the price of the NHL getting a bad name. Because that is what is happening. I hate to say it but for the last 3 Stanley cup playoffs ther hasnt been one series let alone game that wasnt decided by the lack luster refereeing. I just hope that they refs get their contats in straight and start doing THEIR JOB , they are getting paid to do a job. And if a regular worker that pays hard earned cash for tickets did the same kind of ob they wouldbe soon finding themelves on the UNEMPLOYMENT LINE.
So someone please tell the refs to WAKE UP.
their jobs should be on the line. I have wached guys refereeing pee-wee and garage league games do a better job!
