The four-hour CELEBRATING OUR GAME telecast embraces our game at the grassroots level. By hosting this year's telecast from Iqaluit, CBC's HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA once again takes Canadians from coast to coast to coast uncovering hockey's hidden gems - from the frozen ponds to the NHL arenas.

"Going to the North for HOCKEY DAY is exciting as it gets us into communities we seldom explore," says Nancy Lee, executive director of CBC Sports. "As well, this year the show will concentrate on the programs and systems there are for towns, teams and families to improve the way the game is coached, played and seen."

"We are thrilled to be able to host HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA," explains John Matthews, the mayor of Iqaluit. "Hockey is a very popular sport in Iqaluit and throughout Nunavut for both the spectators and those who play the game. The pride we all have for Jordin Tootoo's successes and the pride he shows for Nunavut is a reflection of this."

CELEBRATING OUR GAME features live remotes from across the country as local CBC reporters examine hockey's place in our communities. From organized tournaments to the recreational game, HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA is about awareness of amateur programs, evaluating the evolution of hockey and recognizing individuals who have dedicated themselves to teaching, maintaining and improving our game.

HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA and various CBC Sports personalities will also broadcast LIVE from Summerside, P.E.I.; Quebec City; London, Ontario; New Liskeard, Ontario and Port Alberni, B.C. Scott Russell and Kelly Hrudey will host Game three of the tripleheader and After Hours from Medicine Hat, Alberta.
