The Coach likes the way Detroit attacks the opposing zone, and he's got nothing but love for the inspirational powers of Gary Roberts. But Don is still concerned about the amount of punishment Sidney Crosby absorbs.

As always, Grapes is 100% correct. A team needs heart in order to win the Cup. The finese players may get you to the playoffs, but it takes guys like Gary Roberts, Steve Yzerman, Wendel Clark, Bobby Clark, Draper Messier the Rocket, Gordy and the like to win the cup. With the proliferation of Europeans, it was a matter of time until they started to be named Captain but it has been a long road for them to lead teams to a Cup. I will say that if I ever expected a European to make that happen, it would be Lidstrom. He is a great player and a great Captain.
Go Grapes...you are a Great Canadian!

Hey Don:
It is truly awesome to see that the Red Wing had more talent than your Penns. The Red Wing were able to beat the Penns, the Referees and the Officials of the NHL to bring the Lord Stanley's Cup back to DETROIT!!!!! I truly do not understand why you would not address the poor officiating by the Referees on Coach Corner, but it doesn't matter! We won the Cup. I personally feel that in the last 20 years the NHL's Referees and Officials are not impartial. If you do not know what impartial means, please look it up. It was outstanding to hear all the fans booing Gary Bettman while he was speaking. You have Garbage running the league into the ground and all the true NHL Fans KNOW that Gary is the biggest part of the problem and you add your hyperbole to the garbage can. Holmstrom's butt was interfering with the goal tender, LOL. I could go on.
True NHL Fan,

thank you red wings! I loved Gary roberts when he played with Calgary, and I loved him with the Leafs. And as a life-long Wings fan, I'm glad he didn't play like his former pre-many-injury self.Old warriors like he and Chelios have the potential to change a game, even in their 40's. Cheli didn't play in the finals, but his influence was ever-present. The old goat should retire and start coaching. He'd be great at developing young d-men, and Roberts could coach young gritty guys. Guys that have a passion for the game, even if they don't score so often. McCarty types.
