Hasek looking sharp for Detroit

Play Video: Hasek looking sharp for Detroit

Dominik Hasek has bounced back strong for the Detroit Red Wings and Jamal Mayers is doing a great job for Canada at the men's world hockey championship in Russia. Don also takes a moment to look at the toughness of a fellow Canadian excelling in the post-season - Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash.

Speaking of tough Canadian guys like Nash - got a picture of a shiner like no other - bet it beats any you've seen in the NHL! I'm a rig manager 61 years young, took a knock from some pipe and kept on working. Us Canadian boys are the best stock for sure. Not sure where to send the photo to. Keep up the good work and tell it like it is.

I just watched Coach's corner on the first game of the finals tonight.I want to say how proud I am to be a Canadian.I think Don Cherry is one of the best ambassadors of Canada. It always amazes me to hear people sounding of about our armed forces.Don,you sure do a lot of morale boosting when you talk about our guys over there, and I know the families of the men who gave their all must appreciate it when you show the country these "HEROES"I am 60 years old and served in the air force briefly and some day I would like to shake your hand.Keep up the great job you and Ron are doing and thanks so much for all you've done.

Don, we never miss Coach's Corner. But I think you give Ottawa too much time and credit. They will eventually Choke. Why bother with them?

I love good, old Canadian style hockey. So does my Mom. (She's 80, I'm 57.)My Mom and I wish we could watch some again.
Watching the NHL playoffs this year and last is a different game.
The game played with honor, with grit, heart, soul, by kicking and scratching your way to fight for the puck, for the chance to shoot it at the net, to score,to win the game, to win the Stanley Cup! Never quit! Is gone.
Gary changed that. Expansion markets. No more sheriffs to fight the good fight. Everyone knew their role. Everyone knew the rules. Now it's different. Some say,"Pathetic."
Now it' all about the penalties (phantom penalties) the referees call, then the power play to make the game interesting. (Oooh! Look! There's only 4 or 3 of them and 5 of the other guys...)
Our whole family watches Coaches Corner and enjoy all the interesting things you bring up with Ron. You do what's right for your country and you do it in good taste. Thank you, Don! Thumbs up!

Don, you are doing a great job. I have watched you for years and you only get better. Outstanding comments about hockey and I am delighted that you are showcasing the good side of our troops at war. They need our support and you have become the major source of support. Good show indeed.

May I please remind you that you are broadcasting a show called "Hockey Night in Canada". Can you show some enthusiasm and support to the Only CANADIAN team left in the playoffs. I have yet to feel that your station supports the Ottawa Senators in any way. I wish that you would accept that Toronto is out of the playoffs and support the only remaining Canadian team. If not, I suggest that you change the name of your show to "Hockey Night in the U.S.".

Great job again Ron and Don. Hasek is a very talented goalie and he is also very competitive and that is what separates the athletes from the wannabees. I feel Detroit will win in 6 games and they will face the Buffalo Sabres in the final. Go Detroit

Don, I sent you an e-mail months ago with my theory of how germs get around in the NHL, and in particular referenced the Montreal Canadiens problems with the flu earlier this year. The players always seem to be waving their mouth guards around, I even saw one player drop it on the ice and then pick it up and put it back into his mouth. Players spit, bleed, sweat, puke on the ice, etc. Also, they stuff them into their gloves and then pop, right back into their gob. Wouldn't actions like this promote the spreading of germs and hence illness. Just throwing that out there!?!

I just want to thank Don for mentioning the dirty glass. I'm a hockey photographer for the Golden Horseshoe League, just across the boarder from Buffalo and that puck smeared, body slammed glass is a real challenge to shoot through. Maybe now, all the arenas, Junior B on up, will clean up their glass. Thumbs up, Don.
