Well I'm going to the Canucks-Leafs game on the 13th and I am a HUGE Canucks fan. I have so many Canucks things that I have to use my spare room to keep some of the things, everything from a fridge to a chandalier - it's all Canucks. I even named my dog nazzy for my favorite player. I'm so excited this is my 1st game I've ever attended cause I'm not a Leafs fan and the canucks don't visit very often. Anyway, I'd really like to meet a player! I don't know if that's really possible but I figured it was worth a shot. I know I will have a great time either way, but just meeting a player would be a dream.

Adam LucasNorth York
A group of friends, including myself, from mid 20's to early 50's play ball twice a week over the past several years from Septemeber to April, on a tennis court in North York, Ont. We don't socialize in general off the court, but everyone knows to show up on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings no matter the weather, as we have played in severe cold and inclement weather. We have a great time running around, hooting and hollering when goals are scored, or nifty passes and defensive plays are made. We are playing in the Downsview Park 3 on 3 Ball Hockey Tourney on Jan. 13. I am 50 years old and have played ball hockey continuously since age 11 or 12. Was never a good skater, so ball hockey was the next best venue. I am a goaltender, and always imagine being a Dominik Hasek or a Miikka Kiprosoff stopping a Jaromir Jagr or Alexander Ovechkin on a breakaway with the ball, when playing with my group of friends.

My wife and I are new parents of a baby boy. There are also several of our friends who are new parents as well and this will be the first Hockey Day in Canada for all the young ones. I am hosting a Hockey Day in Canada bash that day which will include a street hockey tournament as well as watching the CBC broadcast. My suggestion is to come out and do a report on the the newborns and this could be an annual thing to wath them grow in the game of hockey. All the parent are involved in hockey and play it. It would be a great idea to start this year and follow the young ones as the grow as players, coaches and referees in the great game we all love.

I host a party every year, it's bigger than that Super Bowl business. I have a big table top hockey game that we have a tournament, every one is required to wear something from a Canadian team or Team Canada. If the weather is accomodating I build an ice rink and we have shinny matches as well. I look forward to this day every year.
Ed BeauneThorold
In Southern Ontario it is hard to keep an ice rink all winter. So I will be sipping red wine and watching the festivities on CBC. WE LOVE DON CHERRY IN THOROLD.
Chad TurnerThunder Bay
On Hockey Day in Canada the sponge hockey league in Thunder Bay has their big tourney and 16 to 20 will compete that weekend.
JasonLast year family and friends gathered at my backyard rink for the first "Hockey Day at Hazelwood", held in conjunction with "Hockey Day in Canada". There were 20 people, ranging in age (oldest 45, youngest 10) and hockey skill, with the Hazelwood Huskies defeating the Hazelwood Hosers in a tight match. We had a great time, with the game of our own, watching CBC's Hockey Day in Canada, and we even tried a deep fried turkey. (Which is great if you get the chance!) So, here's your chance....we are proposing that HNIC sends out a crew here in Thunder Bay to our rink on Hazelwood Lake. Last year the rink was approximately 100 feet long by 60 wide. This year we have 30 skaters, 2 goalies, and are looking to have regulation size ice, or close to it, fully lit for night games. We had jerseys made up for the occasion last year, and this year's "Hockey Day at Hazelwood" seems to be growing as we have added a table hockey tournament to go along with the skate, sauna, and turkey fry. So send out a crew for "Hockey Day at Hazelwood", as part of "Hockey Day in Canada". We'd be honoured to show the rest of Canada just how cherished the great game of hockey is here in Thunder Bay. And in case I don't hear from you guys at CBC, at least let me thank you for putting on Hockey Day in Canada, and giving friends and family a great excuse to get together!

At Downsview Park in North York there will be a 3-on-3 ball hockey tournament with over 100 teams. It is an annual event and it raises money for childrens charities. There will be NHL veterans on hand and will be playing a charity game. Last year's team featured Ken Dryden and several ex-Leafs.

About Nelson, B.C.
- Find Nelson on a map
Located in the Selkirk Mountains, on the shore of Kootenay Lake in southeastern British Columbia, the city of Nelson was founded in 1886 and was originally called "Stanley" after Canada's Governor General, Lord Stanley. Nelson's hockey roots reach much further, however, producing great NHL talent including Danny Gare, Pat Price and Greg Adams. The small city was also the hometown of Lester and Frank Patrick, hockey's royal family, whom many credit with creating modern hockey with several innovations including the addition of blue lines, the forward pass, penalty shots and the playoff system.
Nelson's mayor, John Dooley, says "we are absolutely ecstatic that CBC has chosen Nelson to host Hockey Day ... This is a true winter sports community, and hockey is an integral component of culture in Nelson and the surrounding communities. It is wonderful that CBC is taking the initiative to bring their Hockey Day broadcast into rural communities such as Nelson and connecting us with the rest of Canada."
