Habs ship Lapierre to Ducks

The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Maxim Lapierre to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Brett Festerling and a 2012 fifth-round draft pick, the two teams announced Friday.

The Montreal Canadiens have traded centre Maxim Lapierre to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Brett Festerling and a fifth-round draft pick in 2012. 

Lapierre has five goals and three assists in 38 games so far this season. The 25-year-old native of Montreal also led the Habs in hits, with 104, and penalty minutes, with 63. 

The six-foot-two, 207-pounder has 40 goals and 40 assists since being drafted by the Canadiens 61st overall in 2003. 

Festerling was scoreless in one appearance with Anaheim so far this season. The 24-year-old from Quesnel, B.C., has eight assists in 83 career NHL games. 

Festerling has spent the majority of the season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, where he has three goals and nine assists in 32 games. 

The Canadiens announced the deal in Florida, where they were facing the Panthers on Friday afternoon.
