Devin Williams made 29 saves as the Erie Otters blanked the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 2-0 on Monday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Troy Donnay and Andre Burakovsky both scored as Erie took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Matt Murray stopped 29 of 31 shots in just over 59 minutes of work for Sault Ste. Marie.

Neither team scored on the power play. The Otters went 0-for-2 with the man advantage, while the Greyhounds were 0-for-4.


The Victoria Royals took advantage of the Portland Winterhawks' lack of discipline to skate away with a 2-1 victory in Western Hockey League playoff action.

Brandon Magee and Austin Carroll scored power-play goals in the first period for the Royals, who trail the second-round series 2-1.

Victoria's Patrik Polivka stopped 38 shots for the win and was 14 seconds away from a shutout when Taylor Leier put the Winterhawks on the board.

Brendan Burke turned aside 25 of 27 shots for Portland.

The Royals went 2-for-8 on the power play while the Winterhawks failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.
