The Vancouver Canucks have signed free-agent defenceman Aaron Rome to a two-year contract.

Rome, 26, played 49 games with Vancouver last season, collecting four assists and 15 penalty minutes. He appeared in one playoff game.

During his career Rome has played 75 career NHL games with Vancouver, Columbus and Anaheim. He has one goal, six assists and 57 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-one, 218-pound native of Nesbitt, Man., was originally the 104th pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2002 draft.
