The Montreal Canadiens have lost injured forwards Bryan Smolinski and Steve Begin for six weeks and three weeks, respectively.
Neither player skated in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes or Tuesday's tilt with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Smolinski, 35, suffered a sprained right knee in last Thursday's 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.
He has posted two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 28 games this season, his first with Montreal.
Begin sustained a separated left shoulder in the same contest.
The 29-year-old native of Trois Rivières, Que., has tallied three goals and set up another in 25 games this season, his ninth in the NHL.
Goaltender Cristobal Huet, sidelined by a groin pull, could return to the lineup on Saturday, when the Canadiens play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs (CBC, 7 p.m. ET).
