Madison Bowey and Zach Nastasiuk also scored for Canada (2-0-0-0), which outshot its opponent 34-23.

Alexander Sharov and Rinat Valiev scored for Russia (1-1-0-0) while Maxim Mamin contributed with two assists.

Canadian goaltenders Eric Comrie and Philippe Desrosiers combined to make 21 saves. Russia's Timur Bilyalov stopped 29 shots in the loss
