The Columbus Dispatch is reporting Manitoba coach Scott Arniel has been hired for the same job with the Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets scheduled a press conference for Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET to introduce their new coach.

The Dispatch, citing unidentified sources, reported on its website that Arniel had accepted the job.

Arniel is 181-105-10-19 in four seasons with Manitoba of the American Hockey League. He takes over for interim coach Claude Noel, who got the top job when Ken Hitchcock was fired midway through last season.

Arniel, 47, has also served as an assistant on Lindy Ruff's staff in Buffalo. Arniel played for both the Sabres and Winnipeg Jets in an NHL playing career that lasted over a decade.

Earlier on Monday, Guy Boucher of Hamilton in the AHL turned down the job.
