Avalanche's Smyth shelved for Game 3
Colorado forward Ryan Smyth will miss Tuesday night's Game 3 matchup against the Red Wings with a foot injury, Avalanche head coach Joel Quenneville said.
The veteran left-winger was hit by a puck during Game 2 on Saturday.
When Smyth didn't show up for practice on Monday, Quenneville said it was because of "routine maintenance," but the injury became serious enough to pull Smyth from the lineup for the crucial Game 3 tilt. The Avalanche return to Denver trailing the Wings 2-0 in the second-round best-of-seven series.
Smyth has two goals and three assists in the playoffs, and is second on the team in shots on goal, with 22.
It's another injury blow for Colorado, as the team will also have forward Wojtek Wolski sitting alongside Smyth in the press box tonight.
In some good news for Colorado, Peter Forsberg and Scott Hannan are expected to make their returns to the lineup tonight, Quenneville said after the morning skate.
