Serge Aubin was named captain of the 24-man roster unveiled Thursday by Hockey Canada for the upcoming Spengler Cup international hockey tournament.

The Val-d'Or, Que., native, who plays for the Swiss club Gotteron, was part of the Canadian squad that finished fourth in last year's edition of the event.

Josh Holden and Jean-Pierre Vigier are the alternates for the team coached by Mark Messier.

Jeff Deslauriers, who played for the Edmonton Oilers last season, and Tyler Moss, also a former NHLer, will handle the duties in goal.

Forwards Glen Metropolit, Mark Bell and Curtis Brown, and defencemen Duvie Westcott and Travis Roche are among the other former NHLers on the squad.

Joining Canada in the Dec. 26-31 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland are Swiss club Geneve Servette, SKA St. Petersburg of Russia, Sparta Prague of the Czech Republic, Spartak Moscow of Russia and host team HC Davos.
