Bill Cowher led the Pittsburgh Steelers to the 2006 Super Bowl championship. (Gene J. Puskar/Associated Press)Former Super Bowl coach Bill Cowher has decided to remain a studio analyst with CBS rather than return to the sidelines next season.
Cowher, who led the Pittsburgh Steelers to the 2006 title, was recently courted by the New York Jets, but said during CBS's pre-game show on Sunday that he's taking his potential coaching prospects "year to year."
"It's a privilege and an honour to be a head coach in the National Football League," said Cowher. "And I have been flattered about the attention, but the timing right now is not right. I don't plan on coaching next year."
Cowher, who also took himself out of the running for the vacant Cleveland coaching job, said he's looking forward to being a part of the network's 2010 Super Bowl broadcast in Miami.
