New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has undergone two more procedures to clean out an infection in his surgically repaired knee, according to a Boston Herald report.
The newspaper wrote that Brady is on a six-week course of intravenous antibiotics and will continue to have followup exams at the clinic in Los Angeles where he had the surgery on Oct. 6.
Brady confirmed for the first time last weekend that he needed to undergo a surgical procedure to deal with an infection. The second operation took place on Oct. 15, he said.
Brady, the most valuable player in the NFL last season with a record 50 touchdown passes, was felled less than eight minutes into the season.
Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard rolled into the quarterback's left knee. Brady tore the anterior cruciate ligaments in the knee, but is expected to be healthy in time for next season.
New England is 4-2 with Matt Cassel taking over from Brady. The Patriots host St. Louis on Sunday.
