The New England Patriots signed veteran running back LaMont Jordan on Saturday, a day after he was released by the Oakland Raiders.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Raiders were unable to trade Jordan and released him Friday.

Oakland signed Jordan in 2005, but he did not develop into an elite back as the team had hoped. He had 19 carries in the final nine games of last season.

Jordan has rushed for 3,285 yards and 24 touchdowns in seven seasons with Oakland and the New York Jets.

He had his best season in 2005 when he rushed for 1,025 yards and nine touchdowns and had 563 yards receiving with two touchdowns with the Raiders.
