Raiders' Javon Walker beaten, robbed in Las Vegas

Javon Walker reportedly was the victim of a robbery early Monday in Las Vegas. (Paul Sakuma/Associated Press)Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker remained hospitalized Tuesday in Las Vegas — the victim of an apparent beating and robbery.
Walker, 29, was found unconscious early Monday at an intersection near the Las Vegas Strip, having sustained "a moderate concussion and significant injuries to his face," police spokesman Bill Cassell said.
According to KVVU-TV, he is listed in fair condition at Sunrise Medical Center with a fractured orbital.
Police Lt. Clinton Nichols acknowledged that Walker was beaten and robbed, and that police have been trying to retrace his steps.
"That is one of the first things we do — backtrack what he did and where he stayed," Nichols said. "We knew there was a large amount of cash taken and some jewelry."
Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke wrote that Walker partied Saturday night at Tryst, a popular casino in the Wynn, "spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon Rose champagne he ordered. Also at the club: UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva and former NBA standout Charles Oakley [who played for the Toronto Raptors]. Walker later moved over to Drai's After Hours."
Walker reportedly partied Sunday night at Body English, a nightclub located at the Hard Rock, before leaving about 3:30 a.m. local time.
It is not the first time he has become embroiled in a violent situation off the field.
Not long after an alleged altercation involving several people at a Denver nightclub on New Year's Day in 2007, Walker was sitting in a parked limousine when shots were fired into the vehicle, killing Denver Broncos teammate Darrent Williams.
Walker has played six seasons in the NFL, making 252 catches for 3,815 yards and 30 touchdowns in 72 games.
Drafted 20th overall by Green Bay in 2002, he spent four seasons with the Packers before being sent to the Broncos for a second-round draft pick on April 29, 2006.
Walker was limited by a right knee injury to eight games last season, finishing with 26 receptions worth 287 yards.
He signed a six-year, $55-million US contract with Oakland on March 4.
