Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch made it to the team's workout Tuesday, but by the afternoon he still hadn't spoken to Buffalo police about a hit-and-run they say involved his SUV.

Police allege that an SUV registered to Lynch struck a female pedestrian attempting to cross a street at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in downtown Buffalo, then fled. The woman, from Milton, Ont., was treated for injuries to her leg and released from hospital.

Police spokesperson Mike DeGeorge said on Tuesday afternoon that Lynch's attorney had made contact the previous day but that a meeting had not been set up.

"Right now, the ball is in their court. The clock would be ticking," said DeGeorge. "Police have made it clear to Mr. Lynch's representative that they would like some answers, expect some answers, and if they don't start getting some answers then they could take some other action."

DeGeorge said Lynch could face an obstruction of justice charge if he doesn't co-operate.

Police located and impounded the vehicle as part of their investigation.

Lynch, 23, took part in voluntary workouts Tuesday at the team's training complex in Orchard Park, N.Y.

Lynch rushed for 1,115 yards and seven touchdowns for the Bills in his rookie season. He was selected 12th overall in the April 2007 NFL draft after foregoing his senior year at the University of California.
