The Winnipeg Blue Bombers locked up one of their key players Monday be re-signing offensive guard Matt Sheridan to a new multi-year contract
Financial terms were not disclosed.
A product of the University of Manitoba, Sheridan completed his seventh CFL season with the Blue Bombers in 2007, the same team that selected him in the sixth round (40th overall) of the 2000 CFL draft.
"Matt Sheridan has been a big part of this team for some time now and we are glad he will continue to be for the foreseeable future," said Blue Bombers general manager Brendan Taman.
"He has demonstrated his football ability time and time again since joining our football club. He has also contributed a lot to the football club off the field."
Sheridan was a big reason the Bombers' offensive line gave up the fewest quarterback sacks (27) in the CFL last season, and why Winnipeg running back Charles Roberts rushed for 1,379 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Sheridan has played in 87 regular-season games as a Blue Bomber, as well as five playoff contests and two Grey Cups.
