Armour spent the 2007 season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and became a free agent on Saturday.
The Edmonton Eskimos, Montreal and Calgary were all interested in the six-foot, 225-pound linebacker, who registered a career-high 84 tackles in 16 games with Hamilton last season.
Armour also recorded three quarterback sacks, four pass knockdowns, four tackles on special teams and added two fumble recoveries, including one returned for a 62-yard touchdown
"We believe JoJuan Armour will add a physical presence to our defence," said Stamepders coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "He plays with great instincts and you can usually find him around the ball."
A product of Miami University (Ohio), Armour spent five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals before signing in the CFL. He played two seasons with the B.C. Lions prior to joining Hamilton in 2006.
"I'm excited to be part of this organization," said Armour. "I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to win a Grey Cup and compete at a high level with this organization."
