Denver Broncos defensive end Courtney Brown will miss the rest of the season because of chronic knee problems.

Brown, 28, requires additional surgery on his wonky left knee, which he had surgically repaired in 2002, 2004 and in August.

Courtney Brown will soon undergo a fourth surgery on his wonky left knee.

Brown also had surgery on his right knee in 2001.

"What more can you really say but, 'We've got your back and we're praying for you and hope you well for the surgery,' " Broncos defensive lineman Kenard Lang said.

Brown, who last played in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 22, joined Denver as a free agent on March 30, 2005 and recorded 28 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries in 14 games last season.

Brown was drafted first overall by Cleveland in 2000 and started all 16 games during his rookie campaign, but the oft-injured Penn State product missed 33 games over the next four seasons.
