Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant has been recognized for his role in a dramatic season-opening win, named the CFL's offensive player of the week on Tuesday.

Durant threw for a career-high 478 yards and five touchdown passes in a 54-51 win over the Montreal Alouettes. It provided the Roughriders a measure of revenge for their heartbreaking loss to the Alouettes in the Grey Cup last fall.

Roughriders slotback Andy Fantuz was named top Canadian for his two touchdown catches in the double overtime thriller.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Joe Lobendahn was named the defensive player of the week for a pair of quarterback sacks in his team's curtain-raising 49-29 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Hamilton kick returner Marcus Thigpen returned a missed field goal 118 yards for a touchdown against Winnipeg and was named special teams player of the week.
