Once a week, Tony breaks down the balance of power in the National Football League.

1. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
The best part of toppling Minnesota was the Saints didn’t need their vaunted aerial assault to get it done.
2. BALTIMORE RAVENS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
That Ravens defence was as dominant as ever Monday night in New York, limiting the Jets to only one third-down conversion on 11 attempts.
3. GREEN BAY PACKERS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Forget about Aaron Rodgers and the offence, linebacker Clay Matthews (7 tackles, 2 sacks) was the real star behind Green Bay’s win in Philadelphia.
4. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
Suddenly, the Colts have both Houston and Tennessee to contend with in the AFC South. Thought, the loss of Bob Sanders isn’t as dire as many might think. Remember, they went to the Super Bowl last year without their hard-hitting safety.
5. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
The most encouraging sign for the Pats’ impressive win over Cincinnati was their defensive forced two turnovers – one which resulted in a touchdown.
6. HOUSTON TEXANS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Arian Foster (231 yards, 3 TDS) and his offensive line pushed the Colts around like no team has in quite a while.
7. TENNESSEE TITANS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Like I said in CBCSports.ca'sNFL preview, this team can go along way if Vince Young and Chris Johnson can continue carry most of the offensive load. There is no doubt about one fact: Johnson, who rushed for 142 yards and 2 TDs against the Raiders, is the best running back in the NFL.
8. MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
It became evident in the opener that Brett Favre is going to miss Sidney Rice even more than he thought.
9. PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
As long as Troy Polamalu remains healthy, the Steelers will contend for the AFC North crown.
10. DALLAS COWBOYS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
Congratulations Jason Garrett, you’ve just joined Barry Switzer into the “dumbest play decision in team history club.”
11. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
Among the many problems San Diego suffered in Kansas City was its inept punt coverage.
12. N.Y. JETS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
After all the massive hype in the off-season, Mark Sanchez and the rest of the offence showed nothing to warrant the brash talk .
13. ATLANTA FALCONS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
While it didn’t hurt the team at the time, Matt Ryan can’t afford to throw ill-timed interceptions if he’s going to take the next step at a QB. And the Falcons still lost in th end.
14. N.Y. GIANTS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
After three TDs against Carolina, Hakeem Nicks should continue to be Eli Manning’s go-to receiver.
15. MIAMI DOLPHINS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Karlos Dansby could well be the best free-agent signing of 2010. Against the Bills, the linebacker registered 8 tackles, 1 sack and 3 quarterback hits.
16.CINCINNATI BENGALS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
The Bengals were smacked in the mouth early and often in New England and didn’t mount a comeback until it was too late.
17. WASHINGTON REDSKINS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
The Cowboys gave away the game, but you can’t argue with the way Washington’s defence played. This unit simply overmatched Tony Romo’s bunch.
18. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
Like it or not, Andy Reid, you’ve got yourself a full blown quarterback controversy whenever Kevin Kolb (concussion) can return.
19. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
Failing to find a real starting QB this year could be Mike Singletary undoing should the 49ers miss the playoffs.
20. ARIZONA CARDINALS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
The Cardinals win their opening week yet it still feels like it’s going to be a long year.
21. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Well see how enthusiastic Pete Carroll is when the losing starts. This isn’t USC, Pete. You’re not going to be winning 95 per cent of your games in the NFL.
22.CHICAGO BEARS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Jay Cutler (372 yards, 2 TDs) did a nice job rallying his team back against Detroit.
23. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: 1-0
Glen Dorsey (6 tackles, 0.5 sack, 2 QB hits) had the best game of his three-year career against San Diego.
24. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
Free-agent signing Aaron Kampman (1.5 sacks) is already paying off for the Jags.
25. DENVER BRONCOS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
The Broncos could only muster 89 rushing yards against a Jacksonville team that had the 19th-ranked run defence last year.
26. CAROLINA PANTHERS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
No matter who in under centre – Matt Moore (concussion) or rookie Jimmy Clausen – it’s going to be another frustrating season for the Panthers.
27. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Overall record: 1-0
Streak: Won one
It was a solid start for Cadillac Williams, who rushed 22 times for 75 yards against the Browns, but questions about his durability will always follow his career.
28. OAKLAND RAIDERS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
You know you’re in for a rough day when a running back (Darren McFadden) leads all receivers and is nowhere near 100 yards.
29. DETROIT LIONS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
Lost in the idiotic rule that cost the Lions a victory is the realization Matthew Stafford could be out a month with a separated shoulder, leaving many to wonder if the No. 1 overall pick in 2009 is durable enough to play in this league.
30. ST. LOUIS RAMS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
He’s going to go through his share of growing pains but rookie pivot Sam Bradford is already showing fans that he is the answer in St. Louis.
31. BUFFALO BILLS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
You just know Bills fans are counting down the losses in the hope of landing the No. 1 pick in next year’s draft. So far, they’re off to a flying start.
32. CLEVELAND BROWNS
Overall record: 0-1
Streak: Lost one
It’s not a question of if, but which week president Mike Holmgren relieves Eric Mangini from his head coaching duties.
