Glen
Suitor
To
say that Glen Suitor was "tough as nails" on the
gridiron would be an understatement. The North Vancouver,
BC, native played 11 seasons as a safety with the Saskatchewan
Roughriders and never missed a game (194 consecutive games)
after being selected 10th overall in the 1984 CFL Draft.
Upon
announcing his retirement in 1995, Suitor made the smooth
transition from the gridiron to the broadcast booth joining
TSN as an analyst on its Canadian Football League broadcasts.
Suitor made his national television debut in July 1997, joined
by play-by-play announcer Gord Miller. He worked on the CFL
ON CBC during the 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 playoffs.
Suitor,
the Roughrider all-time interception leader (51), was a three-time
CFL all-star (1991-'93) and a four-time Western all-star (1989,
'90, '92, '93). For three years (1991-'93), Suitor was a sports
director and morning co-host with CJME AM radio and sister
station CIZL FM in Regina.
On
July 24, 1991, Suitor used skills of another kind - CPR -
when he assisted in saving the life of a man in a Regina restaurant.
He received the Lifesaver's Award of Merit for his valiant
deed.
Suitor
resides in Vancouver with his wife Elizabeth and their two
children, Alishia and Jared.
