Brenda
Irving brought more than 19 years of broadcast experience
to CBC Sports' coverage of 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea. At
the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, she covered
Nordic Combined and Snowboarding, and at the 2000 Olympic
Summer Games in Sydney she covered various events. In 1999,
Irving was in Winnipeg for CBC Sports' Pan Am Games coverage.
At the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Irving covered
all Nordic and cross-country skiing events.
Born
in Cambridge, Ontario, Irving is a graduate of Conestoga College's
radio and television broadcast program. She has had postings
across Canada, including stations in Lloydminster, Sault Ste.
Marie, Kitchener, Ottawa and Montreal. After seven years as
a news reporter, Irving switched to sports broadcast journalism.
Irving
was part of the coverage team for CBC Television at the 1995
Canada Winter Games, the 1996 Canadian judo championships
and the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She also has extensive
experience covering the NHL's all-star games and Stanley Cup
finals, Grey Cup championships and the Montreal Expos' spring
training camp.
Irving
also files stories and documentary reports for SPORTS JOURNAL
on CBC Newsworld. She currently lives in Toronto and spends
her spare time boating, and training for triathlons and marathons.
