The New York Jets have signed unrestricted free-agent guard Tom Nutten, who spent the past four seasons with St. Louis.

New York also signed first-year free agents, fullback Chad Kuhns and wide receiver Tavon Mason on Wednesday. Nutten, a 6'5", 300-pound guard, started for the Rams in Super Bowls XXXIV and XXXVI.

He has started 57 career regular season games and played in 61 career regular-season contests, as well as seven post-season contests.

He will be entering his seventh season in the NFL in 2003. "Tom Nutten gives us a proven player at the guard position and has started on two Super Bowl teams," said general manager Terry Bradway. "Tom brings leadership and is a good complement to our offensive line."

Nutten originally was drafted in the seventh round in 1995 before spending time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1997 and the NFL Europe's Amsterdam Admirals in 1998.
