Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish has won his third straight CFL Canadian player of the week award after his career game against rival Edmonton.
Cornish ran for a career-best 185 yards and a touchdown as the Stampeders beat the Eskimos 20-18 on Friday and moved into second place in the CFL West.
The New Westminster, B.C., native helped his team to the close win with a 59-yard touchdown run with 5:57 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Toronto's Chad Kackert won the offensive player of the week award. Winnipeg's Jason Vega took the defensive award and teammate Demond Washington claimed special teams honours.
Kackert rushed for a career-high 172 yards and three touchdowns and added 67 yards on six receptions in the Argonauts' 45-31 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The win moved the Argos into a tie for first with Montreal in the CFL East.
Kackert is the second Argo in a row to earn the award, with Chad Owens winning last week.
Vega registered six tackles and three sacks — both career highs — in the Bombers' tough 25-24 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Washington compiled 114 yards and one touchdown on four punt returns and 31 yards on two kick returns as the Bombers came close to avenging a 52-0 loss to Saskatchewan a week before.
