The Edmonton Eskimos have traded punter-kicker Eric Wilbur to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for future considerations.
Edmonton signed Wilbur as a free agent Feb 1.
He appeared in 13 games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2010 and posted a 43-yard punting average before being released to last season.
Edmonton GM Eric Tillman said the Eskimos didn't sign Wilbur with the intention of dealing him but were in a bind when Canadian tailback Jerome Messam signed with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
That means with the off-season acquisitions of Burke Dales and Grant Shaw as well as re-signing kicker Derek Schiavone, the Eskimos will go with an all-Canadian kicking crew in 2012.
Canad Inns Stadium will be the home of Winnipeg's newly acquired punter Eric Wilbur. (Joe Bryksa/Winnipeg Free Press/Canadian Press)
