Frank Beltre is staying put with the Calgary Stampeders.

The veteran defensive lineman re-signed with the CFL team on Tuesday. Beltre was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

Beltre appeared in 10 games — including three starts — with Calgary last year, registering five tackles and two special-teams tackles. He added four tackles and a sack in the club's two playoff games.

"During his first two seasons with us, Frank has been a valuable contributor both on defence and on special teams," general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement. "I look forward to seeing his continued development in 2016."

Beltre attended the San Diego Chargers' training camp in 2013 before joining the Stampeders in 2014.

"I love playing football and I'm so thankful that the Stampeders have given me the opportunity to do that," said Beltre.
