Bobby Kuntz's Grey Cup ring stolen in break-in
A 1965 Grey Cup championship ring that belonged to late CFL great Bobby Kuntz has been stolen during a break-in at a home in Mississauga.
Peel police say sometime between Jan. 11 and 14, suspects broke into a home and stole several items, including the ring presented to Kuntz as part of the champion Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
At the time of the Grey Cup victory, the Ticats were not financially capable of purchasing championship rings for their players.
It wasn't until 2005, when Angelo Mosca reunited the surviving members of the 1965 team in Hamilton, that Kuntz got his Grey Cup championship ring.
When Kuntz died on Feb. 7, 2011, at age 79 in Waterloo, Ont., the ring was passed on to a family member.
Anyone who may have information about the theft is asked to call Peel police or Crime Stoppers.
