St. Louis Rams lineman Tom Nutten, of Magog, Quebec, is out for the season.

Nutten is a seven-year NFL veteran who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round of the 1995 draft. He played one game with Buffalo in his rookie season, but has played the remainder of his 77-game career with the Rams, including 68 starts. Nutten, who nearly retired last year because of injuries, was placed on injured reserve today with a neck problem that's gotten progressively worse in recent weeks.

Team doctors told Nutten he has a slightly herniated disc that should heal in six to eight weeks with mainly rest. Nutten says surgery has been ruled out for now.

Rookie Claude Terrell has started three of the last four games. He was inactive for the October 30th Jacksonville game due to a neck injury but returned to the lineup last week.

The Rams signed Larry Turner, a center-guard drafted by the team in 2004 but released in preseason.
