"I was just 12 at my first Canada Games. I had such a great time, and was pretty wide eyed about everything. My sister, Ailsa, was there as well, so all the older girls on the team took care of me. I did win a medal with the relay in short-track, which was a thrill.

"From all the Canada Games, I remember having a great time. Whether it was the opening ceremonies, closing, racing, hanging out with my friends, it was all great!

"I know that competing at the Canada Games prepared me for my races at the Olympics. As soon as you go to the Canada Games, you know it is a bit different. The set up of them is the same as an Olympics. You stay with your province (country) with all the sports in a dorm, there are the opening and closing ceremonies, eat in a cafeteria, once every four years, etc. The similarities are there. I had some good results, and also some disappointing ones."
