    Nicolas Gill has captured two Olympic medals in his career, along with a gold at the 1987 Canada Winter Games.

    "Our team was very successful at those Games and we had great team spirit going on. It was a great time. You don't have competitions like this as a kid and for judo the age is pretty young, it's 14-16 years old. I was 15 at the time.

    "At the time, I hadn't done any international events, just national championships. I don't think it was a major factor in my development, I think at that age, I think it was one of the tournaments I enjoyed the most competing, but maybe not so much for the sport, but for meeting other athletes, being at Games. The outside of the competition is what I remember the most."
