Saskatoon's Stefanie Lawton scored three points in the first and sixth ends on Sunday on their way to an 8-3 victory over Tracy Horgan of Sudbury, Ont., at a Grand Slam curling event in Calgary.

Lawton's rink improved to 5-2 at the tournament, while Horgan's club fell to 3-3.

Also in the 12th draw, Laura Crocker (4-2) edged fellow Edmontonian Jessie Kaufman (4-3) 6-5 after winning a point in the extra end.

Kelly Scott (5-2) of Kelowna, B.C., topped Lisa Eyamie (3-3) of High River, Alta., 4-2 and Calgary's Cheryl Bernard (5-2) beat Edmonton's Valerie Sweeting (4-3) by a score of 4-3 in eight ends.

Quarter-final play begins Monday.
