Alberta's Jocelyn Peterman scored four in the fourth and five in the fifth to claim a 12-6 victory over Manitoba's Shannon Birchard and win the M&M Meat Shops Canadian junior curling championship final on Saturday.
Peterman pulled ahead 9-1 after five ends and never let Birchard back in the match.
Birchard scored three in the eighth to cut the deficit to 10-6, but Peterman iced the match with two in the ninth and final end.
Peterman booked her spot in the final earlier in the day with a 8-7 win over B.C.'s Kesa Van Osch.
It is the first Canadian junior title for Peterman, third Brittany Tran, second Rebecca Konschuh and lead Kristine Anderson. It was also their first appearance in the tournament.
Peterman's team will now represent Canada at the 2012 world junior curling championships, March 3-11 in Ostersund, Sweden.
Canada has won eight world junior women's titles since 1988, tied with Scotland.
In other action, Manitoba's Kyle Doering scored five in the third end en route to a 9-4 win over Nova Scotia's Stuart Thompson in the men's tiebreaker. Doering will face Northern Ontario's Brennan Wark in semifinal action Sunday, with the winner taking on Alberta's Brendan Bottcher in the final.
