The Canadian men's team defeated Norway 8-4 on Friday to lock up the final playoff spot at the world junior curling championships in Flims, Switzerland.
Skip Jake Walker of Kitchener, Ont., was in control until the seventh end at the Flims, Switzerland, event when Steffen Mellemseter scored three to tie the match 4-4.
Canada rebounded with three in the eighth end and stole another point in the ninth to seal the victory.
Canada finished the round robin at 6-3 and will next play Switzerland (7-2) in the 3-versus-4 Page playoff game Saturday. Scotland and China will meet in the 1-versus-2 game.
The Canadian women's team, skipped by Rachel Homan of Ottawa, finished first in the round robin. Homan will face Sweden in the 1-versus-2 playoff later Friday.
The United States and host Switzerland will play in the 3-versus-4 game. The medal games will be played Sunday.
