One shot. One million dollars.
That's what Ron Trottier of Osoyoos, B.C., will be aiming for in the Capital One Million Dollar Button contest during Sunday's Canadian Open final in Winnipeg.
At stake is a chance to try for $1 million at the Grand Slam of Curling event by covering the button with a shot during the four-end break of Sunday's championship final (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 2 p.m. ET).
Trottier, who has been curling for 25 years, beat five other curlers Saturday in the contest semifinals by placing his rock closest to the button, about 25 centimetres from the pin.
"I have no idea," Trottier told CBC Sports when asked how he managed to get his rock so close to the pin.
And what does he plan to do with the money if he successfully makes the shot on Sunday?
"I could retire, and my wife will retire, too," joked the 64-year-old Trottier.
