Kevin Martin won the Canadian Open of Curling Sunday, beating Randy Ferbey 7-4 in Winnipeg.
Martin shut out Ferbey 3-0 in the sixth and eighth ends to claim victory – and the $30,000 prize. It was the third time Martin has won the championship since 2002.

"It makes them hungrier to beat us," a smiling Martin said of his opponents in an interview with CBC Sports. "I’m not sure this win will help."
Ferbey, a six-time Brier winner, was leading 2-1 after five ends, but the tide turned in the sixth end.
Ferbey's third, David Nedohin, sailed through the house with his final rock in the end, handing Martin an open hit for three to give his team a 4-2 lead.
Ferbey's rink came back with deuce in the seventh to tie the game at 4-4. But Martin made a takeout with his final shot to score three more in the eighth and final end.
"You don’t expect him to miss a shot like that," a disappointed Ferbey said of Nedohin's error afterwards.
The rinks, both from Edmonton, posted 6-1 records in the round-robin segment of the $100,000 tournament.
On Saturday, top-ranked Martin defeated Glenn Howard 5-3 and Ferbey defeated Kevin Koe 7-5 in semifinal action.
Defending champion Jeff Stoughton of Manitoba, who posted a 5-0 record in the round robin, lost to Koe in Saturday evening's quarter-finals.
When asked how he felt about abandoning his role as skip to play with Martin's rink, John Morris (third) said it was the right move.
"It's pretty easy when you're playing for one of the best [skips] in the world. I love playing with these guys," he said, adding he hopes to continue playing with the rink.
