Jennifer Abel wins 3rd diving medal at Commonwealth Games

Canada’s Jennifer Abel added a silver medal to her Commonwealth Games collection on Saturday, finishing second in the women’s three-metre springboard competition.

Laval native wins silver in 3m springboard event

Canada’s Jennifer Abel added a silver medal to her Commonwealth Games collection on Saturday, finishing second in the women’s three-metre springboard competition.

The Laval native had a five-dive total of 324.70 points, finishing behind Esther Qin of Australia for gold (347.25 points).

Hannah Starling of England won bronze. Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., finished in sixth place.

Abel will leave Glasgow with three medals. She won gold in the women’s one-metre springboard on Friday, defending her title in the event from the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, and earned another silver in the women’s three-metre synchronized springboard event with teammate Pamela Ware.

Canada has won six medals total in the discipline (three gold, two silver, one bronze). 

Later in the day, Vincent Riendeau won bronze for Canada in the men's 10-metre platform event. Tom Daley of England took gold, while Ooi Tze Liang of Malaysia earned silver.
