Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., is in third place on women's three-metre after Saturday's semifinals at the FINA World Cup diving competition.

Abel collected 345 points and trails Chinese divers He Zi, the reigning world champion, and Shi Tingmao. Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., the world championship bronze medallist, stands eighth.

"I'm in a very good position going into the final," said Abel, currently ranked fifth in the world. "I showed a lot of stability in my performance. There were no missed dives but there were no spectacular dives either. I certainly feel if I improve my entries I can get better scores."

Waiting a full day before competing in the final doesn't bother Abel.

"Every competition is different with the scheduling so we are used to it," she said. "The key for me is just to stay calm and focused. "

Along with the women's three-metre final, the men's 10-metre event is also on the schedule Sunday featuring Maxim Bouchard of St-Constant, Que., and Vincent Riendeau of Pointe-Claire, Que.
