Calgary's Chad Bobrosky won the men's 200-metre freestyle event Wednesday at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships.

It was Bobrosky's third medal of the competition. He also took silver in the 400 freestyle and helped Canada to second in the 4x100 freestyle relay on Tuesday.

After two days of competition, Canada has a gold and three silver medals.

In the 200 freestyle, Bobrosky finished in one minute 49.13 seconds to finish ahead of Pawel Werner of Poland in second at 1:49.39 and Cameron McEvoy of Australia third at 1:50.12.

"I came here to race and win the gold medal," Bobrosky said. "I was disappointed with my 400 yesterday and I really wanted to come back strong today. It was really exciting to see that Canadian flag go up and it's a great result for our junior program."'

Canada came close to two more podium appearances.
