On the eve of the big show

The Calgary Stampede is a day away. Here's a look at the grounds, the people and the action on the eve of the big show.
The title of World's best horseshoe maker is on the line here. These guys are in the middle of a four-day competition, with $10,000 going to the best blacksmith. Competitors come here from all over the world, including Scotland, England and Australia.
The man in the middle is being 'sworn in' as a cowboy -- at the Calgary airport. Not your usual airport protocol.
One of 10,000 ways you can get your meat cooked at the Stampede.
It's quiet now, but this is where all the rodeo action will happen over the next 10 days.
These cowgirls came to Calgary to help promote a Bud and Labatt party at Nashville North, and this is their 'pose.' Effective marketing for a party? Probably.
Genuine cowboy gear is everywhere you look, including at this depot on the midway grounds.
