This week: Who will challenge Takahashi?

It looks like Japan's Daisuke Takahashi will be the definite favourite in Skate America's men's competition. But who will be his biggest challenge and why? Oda, Rippon, Murakami, Carriere or Song?

As always, thanks to all of you for sharing your ideas. You have great things to say and I feel fortunate to be allowed to be here!

Cheers
Pj

Last week: Who needs redemption?

Dear Pj,

I enjoy your show and articles on CBC. Thank you.

All four skaters in the Cup of China are my favourite athletes. I really wish they get back on the podium, especially Tomas Verner. But I picked Takahiko Kozuka in the Cup of China. I think he is the closer to the gold.

Kozuka, the 2008 Grand Prix silver medallist, is looking for redemption - is going for gold medal. He has had roller-coaster experiences in the 2009-2010 season. He missed the 2009 GP final (down), came in eighth at the 2010 Winter Olympic (up) and placed the 10th at the 2010 World Cup (down). He is not afraid of a challenge and is adding quads to his new program.

Have nice weekend & best wishes,

Yuko Yokomizo
Winnipeg, Man.

Hi Yuko!

Wow!  What a great answer to my iAsk question this week!

I really liked how you tracked Kozuka's progress over the last couple of seasons and your comments about the other skaters.

Thanks for taking the time to write and for your support!

Cheers,

Pj
