A change and a new challenge

Well, it's been just over a month since I last blogged. Too long, I know! But I think it's because I was in a bit of a vacation mode for the past month.

Yes, that means I haven't done any physical activity or training in that time. But I'm definitely feeling it now. I need to start getting back into something, and I think I'm going to take up cycling - something completely new for me!

You, Canada, made my golden moment special

I can't believe it's been a year! Exactly one year ago, I was at the Vancouver Games, waiting to get on the Olympic ice to compete for Canada on home soil in front of my family, friends, supporters, fans -- in front of the whole world!

New year, new challenges

I can't believe it's 2011! Actually, I think it's more like I can't believe 2010 is over.

For so long, there was so much hype, excitement, anticipation and preparation for "2010." It was a big year for me, with the Vancouver Olympics and the Rugby World Cup, and I have to say a successful one.

Still, there were some challenges.

Top of the podium to flat on my couch

I'm sitting on my couch in Toronto. Why is that important information? Because the rest of the World Cup bobsleigh team is in Park City, Utah, getting ready for the third race of this season.

Meanwhile, I find myself facing the challenge of recovering from an injury. Not just healing from the injury, but getting back to performing at an elite level.

Let me tell you about this past year - how I went from the top of the Olympic podium to flat on my couch.
