Offside - An update on fixing Canadian Soccer

Back in the summer, I wrote a series of blogs examining the state of Canadian soccer.

Those blogs stirred a great deal of discussion and led to some fantastic feedback from the soccer community across the country.

They gave you - the supporters of the beautiful game in Canada - the opportunity to have your say and share your thoughts on what could and should be done to improve soccer in Canada.

Some of you commented that despite the overwhelming need for change in Canada, the powers-that-be in our country would simply maintain the status quo and nothing would change. Some of you felt that your comments and suggestions would fall on deaf ears.

Making a difference

Believe me, your voices were heard loud and clear.

In the weeks to come, I am going to be writing a series of updates, filling you in on what is being done by the Canadian Soccer Association to move the game forward in our country.

There is still much work to be done, and by no means is there a simple, quick solution to our woes at the international level.

The changes that need to be made are not easy ones, and they will require time in order for us to see the benefits of those changes.

But changes are being made.

They might take longer than many of you are willing to accept, but they are coming nevertheless.

Stay tuned and I will fill you in on those changes in the weeks to come.
