Staying in one piece is the goal

Summer for most people is about looking forward to long weekends, travelling to new places or just going to the cabin and sitting out in the sun. My summer has been about seeing family, going to the gym and journeying back to winter.

Granted, going to the cold is not a traditional summer activity, but qualifying for the Olympic Games is coming up and my chances look good so I’m embracing the challenge.

Kelly the latest victim in NHLPA's internal power play

And so, less than two years on the job, 30 NHL players have determined that Paul Kelly was not doing a good job as executive director of the NHL Players' Association.

According to whispers, he was too tight with the league, didn't work hard enough at getting to know his own constituents and didn't focus on the issues the players felt were most important, whatever the heck that means. There is even one report that suggests his biggest sin was being too media friendly.

Time for refs to give clutching, grabbing the boot

The question over whether or not soccer needs to institute video replay or instant goal-line technology has been kicked around for some time now.

The debate has gained plenty of steam over the years thanks to a series of high-profile incidents where referees couldn’t recognize in a blink of an eye that the ball did cross the goal-line and that a goal should have been awarded.
