Jones, 28, spent last season with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 18.1 minutes in 79 games, including 71 starts.
"This is a great opportunity for me," he said. "I think they have a core of good players to build around and, after my experience last year with Denver, I'll do everything I can to help Indiana get back into the playoffs."
Jones, considered a defensive specialist, has averaged 5.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 15.6 minutes in 325 appearances (107 starts) over six NBA seasons for the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Nuggets.
"Dahntay gives us defence and versatility," Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird said. "We have talked about being more athletic and being better defensively and Dahntay helps us immediately in both areas."
Jones was drafted 20th overall in 2003 by the Boston Celtics, who promptly shipped his rights and Troy Bell to Memphis for Marcus Banks and Kendrick Perkins.
