Marcus Banks had season-ending surgery Tuesday on his right foot, prompting the Toronto Raptors to sign free-agent guard Quincy Douby to a 10-day contract to replace him on the roster.

Banks, 27, was sidelined March 11 because of a bone spur in his big toe.

He averaged just 2.3 points, 1.0 assist and 6.7 minutes in six games with the Raptors, who acquired him and forward Shawn Marion and cash considerations from the Miami Heat for centre Jermaine O'Neal, forward Jamario Moon and a conditional draft pick on Feb. 13.

Banks has averaged 6.0 points, 2.2 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 16.4 minutes in 323 games, including 37 starts, over six NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Heat and Raptors.

Douby, 24, played 20 games for the Sacramento Kings this season, averaging 4.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 11.4 minutes.

The third-year pro has averaged 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 10.8 minutes in 136 NBA games since he was drafted 19th overall by Sacramento in 2006.

Douby was released Jan. 21 by the Kings.
