Damon Stoudamire, the first player ever drafted by the Toronto Raptors, was one of two assistant coaches added to the staff of the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
Stoudamire retired last season after a 13-year career that began in 1995 with two-and-a-half seasons with the Raptors. He averaged 13.4 points and 6.1 assists in his career, which included stops in Portland and San Antonio, as well as with Memphis.
Stoudamire had been working with the University of Rice in his native Houston as a director of player development this season.
Memphis has been reshuffling since firing coach Marc Iavaroni in January. Lionel Hollins, who has twice served as interim coach of the Grizzlies, including when the team was located in Vancouver, was asked back for a third time.
Joining Stoudamire as a new assistant under Hollins is Henry Bibby, an experienced assistant and the father of NBA player Mike Bibby.
Memphis are 12th in the West with a 13-35 record. They will host the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.
