The Toronto Raptors swung a trade Wednesday, receiving a conditional second-round draft pick from the Los Angeles Clippers in return for seldom-used swingman Hassan Adams and cash considerations.

The transaction reportedly helped Toronto get under the NBA's luxury-tax threshold.

Adams, 24, played sparingly for the Raptors, posting 11 points and seven rebounds in 52 minutes over 12 games.

The Arizona product has averaged 2.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 7.5 minutes in 73 NBA appearances, including eight starts, since he was drafted 24th overall by the New Jersey Nets in 2006.

Adams signed a two-year free-agent contract with Toronto on July 8 following a stint with Basket Draghi Novara and Siviglia Wear Teramo of the Italian pro league.

The Clippers, losers of eight straight games, hope Adams and centre Cheikh Samb, acquired Monday from the Denver Nuggets for a conditional second-round pick, can fill the void left by injuries to regulars Baron Davis, Chris Kaman and Zach Randolph.
